Oxymoron? Nope! This is a healthy PSL that you can make at home.
My first healthy recipe I’m sharing is a PSL! ☕️
Before I jump into the recipe I want to share some variations I enjoy that add health benefits!
Any pumpkin purée tastes great BUT organic pumpkin purée ensures you aren’t getting any pesticides. Which brings me to the next point – organic coffee. Coffee is one of the most sprayed crops for pesticides so go organic there too.
If you don’t have a sweetened creamer – use stevia. Its a natural plant derived sweetener that your body doesn’t process like sugar. I also add vanilla in to my coffee which helps to not feel the need for more sweetener. (Less sugar the better friends!)
For creamer I use dairy free plant based options. Not because I’m vegan or vegetarian but because I’m lactose intolerant and milk is inflammatory to the gut and holds unnecessary hormones my body doesn’t need.
Lastly, additions to this recipe – add collagen powder to EVERY coffee drink! Collagen is anti-inflammatory and lines your gut. It’s also known for healthy joints, skin, hair and nails too!
You could also add a small amount of maca powder to this that will nicely blend in with the pumpkin flavor and pumpkin spice! I recommend 1-2 tsp. to blend it in well. Maca is an anti inflammatory root powder that does so much but here’s a few: balanced hormones, helps memory, anti-inflammatory etc.
Straight forward Recipe:
- Half cup of coffee (or two shots of coffee)
- Frothed milk (I use almond milk)
- 1 tsp. of Stevia
- 3 TBS organic pumpkin purée
- Pumpkin pie spice
- Whip cream *optional (I use coconut cream whip when I do)
Add or take away from this recipe but this is a tried and proven concoction that’s tasty!
Also, enjoy iced! Just add ice and use cold milk instead of heated and frothed. Enjoy one of my favorite fall drinks!
