Repetitive action done over and over, day by day gets the results. We all know this innately but struggle to carry it out. Why?
There are a few big reasons that come to mind.
– We don’t know where to begin.
– What is worth my energy/focus to be repetitive about?
– Is this sustainable for me?
– What if I start it and I don’t see results?
– What if I start and fail?
– Is this going to be wasted energy?
A good rule of thumb to blow past all of your objections is just asking yourself a couple questions to start : what is the end goal I’m after? Does this line up with my values? If you have a positive answer on both of those then just start. Sometimes you’ve just got to just start!
“If you wait for perfect conditions, you will never get anything done.” Ecc. 3:11
Just get started in small increments and track your progress. Don’t look back at it everyday. Just every week take a look at your small progress. Small things done repeatedly make a big difference!
Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will. – unknown quote
If it’s running, start walking 30mins everyday.
If it’s going to then gym, then start a gym membership.
If it’s less snacking, then just cut up one apple and take it with you to work/school. (carrots or celery are good options too!)
You get the point – start small. Stay positive. Set reminders on your phone and keep pressing in!
Wash. Rinse. Repeat!
